Values and objectives
A right to play
Our core values and objectives are drawn from the Southampton Children and Young People's Play Strategy. Our work:
Extends the choice and control that children have over their play, the freedom they enjoy and the satisfaction they gain from it.
Recognises the child's need to test boundaries and responds positively to that need.
Manages the balance between the need to offer risk and the need to keep children and young people safe from harm.
Maximises the range of play opportunities.
Fosters independence and self-esteem.
Fosters children's respect for others and offers opportunities for social interaction.
Fosters the child's well-being, healthy growth and development, knowledge and understanding, creativity and capacity to learn.

Ralph Gordon who is the treasurer of Southampton Children's Play Association did a sponsored skydive on the 17th September 2016. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored him which help fundraise money that we can put back into the community by putting on more playschemes across the city of Southampton in areas of deprivation.
We would like to give a huge thank you to Ralph for raising nearly £700 for SCPA
SCPA was established in 1973. We provide organised play facilities through Holiday Play schemes and after school Junior Clubs for all children aged 5 and over throughout the City of Southampton. All our projects are free of charge and open access.
To organise and provide a wide range of play experiences, to include home corner, drama, cold-cooking, games, collage, drawing, painting, sport, sand and water play, messy play and a quiet area.
To encourage local parents/carers to actively participate at our Play Projects with support and training offered by SCPA.
To provide child centred play, as this is essential to the well being and development of a child as through play children learn to develop their social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional skills.
SCPA Believes that every child has a right to freely chosen play.
